To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all, just bought a HP782, it's working great with my MMDVM hotspot that is running on a Pi Zero W but I cannot get it to unmute when using an MMDVM board attached to a USB serial board, plugged into my PC using BlueDV. The radio is showing channel activity, talkgroups are all programmed properly, same color codes, repeater slot etc...the same way as when using the hotspot and the Pi. It should be no different as the MMDVM board is the same just attached to a USB serial adapter so I can use it on my laptop.

BlueDV works fine...I can connect and it shows activity and is transmitting out just fine. My Anytone can receive the transmissions fine using the MMDVM and USB serial board. I have gone over the Hytera settings several times and it just won't unmute.

Any Hytera experts that have any ideas to try?

Thanks all.

Try to set Pseudo Trunk instead of a Slot in the channel properties.
If this doesn't solve the issue, try to adjust TX Level in BlueDV (not sure if it's adjustable there).

It can be also TXOffset/RXOffset for the said MMDVM hat, which is set within Pi-Star and is not set accordingly in BlueDV.

Check for those values in Pi-Star: Configuration -> Expert -> MMDVMHost -> Modem

Thanks for the replies. Oddly enough I had to use the "Pseudo Trunk" setup for all my channels using the normal Pi hotspot setup so I knew about that trick. Unfortunately it doesn't make a difference, I've tried both ways. I am leaning towards an offset issue. BlueDV does allow limited offset adjustment and I have tried them all and it doesn't help. I may just be out of luck when using the MMDVM board with the USB serial board.

Thanks again.

Update for anyone following...

I decided to try the USB serial board with the MMDVM using MMDVMHOST application on windows and it works great! So the issue is not the Hytera radio programming but rather something in the BlueDV application that is causing the issue.

Issue solved for now.

I had the same issue with my Pi-star and both a 782i and 482i - using Pseudo Trunk worked great.

Thanks for the reply, I tried all the possible TX level adjustments in the BlueDV software and none of them worked. But using MMDVM works fine so there is something in the BlueDV software that the HP782 does not like. I am already using pseudo trunk for everything which solved the issue with a regular hotspot not working with my HP782. Not sure what else I can try.

Thanks again.

It has been my experience the MMDVM equipment only use SLOT 2 !
Second in Hytera you have to set the correct talk groups and radio id's within the radio.
A $20 SDR and a copy of DSDPlus are a grate diagnostic tool.

Just my two cents.
