• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

tHANKS IN ADVANCE FOR READING
Greetings from Madrid, Spain
I have this problem after changing codeplug on my MD-785: the radio wont turn on for normal operation. It only turns for a sec and after showing the hytera logo the radio turns off, so I can not get to the CPS wia USB port and try to reset to default. This is, as the radio doesnt turn on properly, it is not detected by the laptop or PC. Strange thing is that the firmware update process seems to work, as the dial turns red and apparently updates firmware, but no efect on the other problem. Maybe it has to do with lack of correspondence between cps and firmware, but cant discard this as by no means I can make the radio turn on correctly.
any help will be much appreciated, kind of desperate here, as it was a gift.
Again, thanks in advance

Possible solution:

Check your codeplug for Common > accessories > Ignition Sense it should be Off.
If not make a connection from the 12V line to pin 26 on the 26 pin connector on te back of the radio.
set the ignition sense to Off and write the codplug.

thanks

Thanks for your input. maybe, maybe.... I will check the codeplug and see if the ignition option is set to off.
If I understand you well, I must apply 12 volt (+ terminal only in my power source) to pin 26.
I mean I will connect balck and red to my home power source and add ONLY +12 again to pin 26.
Sorry for repeating but messing with red cables is scary sometimes haha.
I appreciate your tip thanks again.

The 12V connection to pin 26 is extra to the normal + and - conections.
Tis is used in cars where the ignition switches the 12 V on and the set
senses that.
With ignition sense on and no 12V on pin 26 it swithes off..

You are welcome,

it happend to a few hams here after upgrade of the firmware and the CPS.
No idea how it changed.
Another reason why ypu won't be the first to upgrade...

You also always have to check if there is a password set somewhere
Better save than sorry.
