• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I can't seem to find any pricing at all on the Hytera PDC760. This is a really neat looking radio that looks to be feature packed by being able to do cellular, analog, and DMR.

I’ll be watching this. Checks quite a few boxes for me, and would keep me from having to tote around extra hardware. Waiting to see the final price point.

Agreed, I too am very tired carrying around a cell and DMR while on-site with clients. This will be a unified solution for many problems. One thing to remember that Hytera has done that a lot of the other Chinese manufacturers have not, PDC760 supports 4W RF out on the UHF band while all others (so far) are only 2W. This is most likely to meet FCC certs for low power (2W max.) UHF operation without a license (i.e., LP business band/splinter freqs. pool). . .

I'll have to wait and see what is handed down to me, concerning the pricing on this unit. I'll keep you guys posted . . . Hytera will only allow MSRP's to be displayed on Internet, whereas, I can set my own pricing from inquiries through my website ;) (URL, see above)

There are no UHF channels in the US that are license free other than GMRS. And that requires a 1/2 Watt radio with a fixed (non-removable) antenna. There are a few license free channels in VHF for low power use, but none in UHF.

I think you are trying to say that FRS Part 95 Subpart B is 'license free', which it is. FRS users are limited to 500mW (1/2W) and is NOT GMRS, though the band is shared. Those using GMRS are required to possess a license under Part 95 Subpart A (which I believe is now, $95/10 years) and are allowed a maximum power of 50W (which is channel specific).

I think you missed the rules change last year. FRS is now limited to 2 watts except on Channels 8-14 (1/2 watt, same as GMRS).

VHF PDC760s are not out yet, I have a pair of UHFs on order.
MSRP is $2299.00

Dealers are not required to sell at MSRP, only to advertise at that price.
