• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am asking for assistance with this problem.

I purchased a brand new Wouxun KG-905G from Two Way Radios, {Rock Hill South Carolina}. The radio was purchased on 11/04/2021.
I have two of these radios both purchased brand new and both have been taken extremely good care of.

This particular radio memtioned above uses a Nagoya NA771-G, antenna . Yesterday for the first time the radio sound failed. I can transmit and be heard by other radios; however, I have no incoming sound. The Volume, Squelch systems are set correctly. The batter is fully charge and both the CTCSS & DCS systems were disabled. There has not been any exspouser to water, rain or any other excessive monisture, no damage of anykind. The incoming sound system just stopped working, As I have already stted, I have anothe radio, (the exact same model), purchased around the same time and that radio works great.

When I turn on this radio there is no welcoming message no sound at all. But; again, everything else works great and again I can transmit and be heard by other radios. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas thank you.

You are out of warranty on the radio. I believe this is from whom you bought the radios:

The Wouxun KG-905G includes a 2600mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack, belt clip, removable antenna, wrist strap, desktop charger, AC cord, owner's manual and a one year manufacturer warranty from Wouxun.

Did you contact the vendor for advice? They are a reputable dealer and welcome customer interaction. I would contact them and I am sure they will give you excellent advice on how to proceed!

These types of "no audio" problems are usually a blown speaker coil, or a bad audio amplifier IC that needs to be replaced.

But it's a $100 radio, so replacing it is much less of a hassle of just locating and ordering the parts yourself, much less the installation of same. I doubt the labor alone would be less than $100.

Try a remote speaker microphone (RSM) to see if you get any audio from a received signal.
Thank you for your suggestion, it worked. At first I could only hear throug the external mic/ speaker, Than I tried head phones and they also worked. Now it seems to be working on its own internal speaker. However, that is still a little hit and miss. I think I will use the external mic / speaker for a while and see how it goes before brining it in for a possible repair. Once again, thank you for the suggestion it worked great.

Thank you for your insight. One of our members suggested trying and external speaker. I did use a mic / speaker combo and I was able to get sound through the external speaker I than used headphones with the same sucess. Now it seems to be working fine through the radio's internal speaker. However, it did go out (failed to produce sound) but it began working agan. Do you have any ideas with this new information. Again, thank you for your assistance.

It sounds like the earphone jack might be buggered up and seating an earphone plug into it is helping it make contact again. You might open the radio up and see if any side connector wiring is bad or sometimes the side connector assy is hard soldered to the main circuit board and connections get ripped loose.

Thank you I'll look into that
