Game Wardens(TWRA)

I have been told that TWRA is on some type of encrypted or digital system. Speaking to one of the officers it was stated that scanners were unable to recieve them. I do know that the officers in middle Tennessee have the capability to talk to those in east or west Tennessee at the change of a channel.

Here are some for TWRA:
159.1575
159.2400
159.2475
159.2925
159.3000
159.3250

But from www.scanchattanooga.com ,"The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency operates a statewide APCO Part 25-compliant digital radio system using Motorola equipment. However, some units still operate in analog mode. When a DPL code is listed, you can use that code to filter out digital traffic if you are using an analog-only receiver."

Forestry & TWRA

I have yet to see a forestry unit with a low band antenna. All vehicals I have seen have an 18" whip for VHF hi and a 6" whip for the uhf mobile repeater. They use UHF portables in field that relay back to VHF hi via their vehical repeaters. In southeast Tennessee operations are on the 159.015 repeater. As for TWRA, they use a digital conventional repeater system that decodes very nicely with the Unidens 296/796 and 785. In southeast Tennessee it's 159.240 from multiple sites. Very rarely do they use analog here.
Never heard any 44 mhz traffic in many years. Hope this helps.
