• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Good evening, I have the IC-5020 Vhf and is MDC 1200 compatible, I have it programmed after a lot of frustration with the software but I am having trouble with the Data bursts that can be sent pre or post audio transmission, my ID is being transmitted but the audible data burst is not working. I must be missing something in the software. I have spent hours trying to find what I am missing. If anyone has any idea what I am missing in the software it would greatly be appreciated. I have no problems with motos Cps but this Icom has thrown me a loop.

What exactly do you mean your ID is being transmitted but the audible data burst is not working? Are you sending MDC to another radio that is decoding it but not hearing the data burst?

Thanks for you reply. When I key up my Icom for a transmission the data burst is not being heard, only my 4 letter ID is being sent and displayed on another radio that is receiving my transmission. I use mototurbo's portables and have no issues with the MDC burst sound being sent. My Icom is my mobile.

You're probably talking about the "key up tone" you hear on your Motorola. That's not actually the MDC data burst and your Icom does not have that key up tone feature. You should be able to hear your MDC burst on the receiving radio as long as there is no DOS set on said radio.

I finally found it>>>>

In Memory Channel:
-Set Log-In/Out to L-OFF
-Set Signalling to 5T - 5T - 5T
-Set 5Tone Signaling | Form to EIA
-Set 5Tone Signaling | ID to 28
-Do this for every channel line you want a beep.

On the left bar, open 5Tone | TX Code CH
-In TX Code for Line 28 put in 3 (you only want a single beep, not five tones)

That will add a single EIA Digit "3" blip at 1,023Hz to the end of every PTT on that channel.
