The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My dilemma....

I have 2 F121's. I can read and write to the one we use as a base radio. I have the other mounted for mobile use. It will not read or write. I have contacted our local Icom vendor and the tech ran through with me everything to check which I had done prior to calling him. He is thinking that something has quit internally. The radio still functions, just won't read or write.

So, my questions are; Has anyone else ever had this problem? Is there a way to reset the radio to default to see if that may kick start something to work? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Are you using the same computer, same cable, and save version of software? I believe the most recent version of the programming software is v1.7.

Hi, Here is what you should do, use a multimeter and check the Front panel pin 1 of the Mic radio jack, probably you do not have 8 Vdc to supply to your RS 232 interface cable.

The easy way to check the 8V is to remove two side screw and you can check on the board.

Or if you can a USB interface cable and test it easy that way, because USB interface do not need supply
voltage from the radio, they use 5Vdc supply from Computer.

In your F121S remember pin 1= 8vdc, pin2 is TXdata, pin8 is RX data, and ground is pin 7 , and that is
all you need to read and writr to the radio.

I hope this help.
