Just wondering it's fun to own one of this now?

I used to ave one 3 years ago, but never got time to really play with it, I'm thinking about buying a used one and I was wondering if anyone have Video Action in your area. Nanny cams, Traffica cams, security cameras etc?

A good while back I got it to work on my security camera. It took quite a while to find the frequency but it did work. I also was able to get the video of an Amateur Radio station. It was fuzzy but was using the telescoping antenna in the house. I would hate to try this on the parking lot of a retail mall playing with it and have security ask me what I was up to.

Somewhere in this room. Right now, you're very col
Had one. Sold it. It was a PITA to program and the video feature wasn't all that impressive. I used to joke with friends that it was the world's most expensive pocket TV. The internet is far more useful for spying on security cameras than this thing was. Just type in the appropriate google hack and you can find unsecured video cams from all over the world.

With the advent and recent proliferation of digital and trunking, the R3 just isn't worth owning IMHO.

I've been able to get a couple of cameras on mine but the picture was real bad. Probably due to using the little stock antenna. There really isn't much video out there so I have mostly used it as a receiver/scanner.

Probably the worst radio investment I have ever made. Very difficult to prigram and very disapointing for it's uses. Now that TV has gone digital it is collecting dust. I may take it to the flea market in Puyallup and see if I can find some ATV guys to watch there....

i was going to buy one awhile back. when i asked almost every reply i got was negative. after reading those and the ones posted here, i'm glad i didnt bite and like someone else posted, now that regular tv is digital the thing would have just been sitting on a shelf gathering dust. I actually wanted to get it to hack into live news feeds in my area.

Picked one up in Tokyo in 2004. Use it for monitoring air and milair frequencies. Use Butel's ARC3 for programming. I can still monitor TV here in Canada. It goes in my EMCOM bag along with my BC346T and FT60R
