Ive had this radio for a long time when I bought it I used it for a couple hours, its a very cool radio h.f.,6meters, and 2 meters. I put it back in the box as I have a few radios, I took it out a few weeks ago and been using it daily, does anyone have any input about this radio ? Likes / dislikes? Im thinking of selling it I have no idea what to ask for it, comes with the SM 20 desktop mic, I have the original box and manual. It is in absolute mint condition. Thanks in advance

Popular radio. Still hear them on the air. eBay search shows they tend to sell in the $700-$1000 range. They were usually sold with a power supply when new which can ad to the value.

Is it an IC-746 or an IC-746 Pro?

The Pro version is worth more, in my opinion, because it has the DSP filters.

I have an IC-746 (NON Pro version) which I bought NEW in 1998. I really have liked this rig. In fact, it remains my MAIN HF/6 Meter transceiver. It has truly served me well. I have had only one minor problem with it which required service. A couple months ago, the backlight went out making it difficult to see the settings and operating frequency. A very quick trip (and most reasonable repair charge) to the ICOM doctor in Michigan took care of that problem. It has been a real workhorse for rag chewing, busting DX pile-ups, skeds, etc.

He must mean MATT! He fixed my 746 non pro once or twice before I traded it off.

Yup. It was Matt Adrian in St. Joseph, MI. He operates the authorized ICOM repair center in the Midwest area. Great service, prompt turnaround time and very reasonable repair rates. Matt came highly recommended to me by two ham buddies. I checked with Matt first before sending my IC-746 because it was about 17 years old! He reported back that parts were available to fix my problem, so I sent it off... Now, My IC-746 is working as good as ever again.
