To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

ICOM F5061D programming error

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased an ICOM IC-F5061D and have been trying to program it using the CS-F3161_CS-F5060 software. I'm able to successfully read the data from the radio and view the current configuration. However, when I try to write to the radio, the process begins but fails partway through (sometimes a quarter of the way, other times halfway), and I get the error:
“No answer from Transceiver.”

After this, the radio displays “CLONE NG” on the screen.

Now, every time I try to write to the radio, it still fails and gives the same error message. I’ve checked the Clone Information, and the radio shows it is Revision 2.8.

So far, I’ve tried the following versions of the programming software:

  • v5.0
  • v5.2
  • v2.2
All versions give the same error.

Has anyone run into this issue or have suggestions for a solution? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Latest version of the software is 5.3

It isn’t a railroad version, is it? That takes special railroad software.
I do not think it is a railroad version. I have also tried the railroad software version V4 Revision 4.6.3 but that did not work either.

Did you try a read then direct ot a write without changing anything ? Ive only had that happen with a USB cable. Mine are all serial for the mobiles to eliminate that issue.
I used a USB cable that has a CP210x USB to UART chip. I think my cable may be the problem, as today I went to one of my local radio dealers and they had success programming my radio using the same version of the software, just a different cable.
