Hi all,
I am supposed to pick this radio up from my dealer today. It is a commercial walkie/talkie on VHF. Has anyone purchased their own programing software and cable for this radio?

Thanks,

Kevin

I have the F43GS and software. The F70 should be a top of the line radio. I would like to hear how well you like it. Also what features it has and what you use. I have thought about getting our squad to order some of these units.

Hi Bob,
I just picked up the radio this past Friday so I have not had much chance to use it. One thing I did notice is the audio seems (to me) to be a little low. I am also a Amateur Radio operator so I need to stop comparing to an amateur radio. Different features.

I ordered the radio with the keypad for amateur use. I have Lakes Region, Capitol Area, State Police, and some amateur freqs in it so far.

Seems like on some of my older Icom F40LTs, I had to turn the compander function on for all channels, not just for the "narrowband" channels to get reasonable audio out of them. I don' t know about yours.

I have the F70 and the sister mobile the F1721, both excellent radios, packed full of features. Easy programming, not to mention the ability to upgrade to p25 if needed. I will agree the audio is a little low but can be increased with the compander. Let me know if you need software or programming cables. I am an authorized Icom dealer and would be happy to help you out.
