Some time ago I was given an IC-701 and I soon found why it was given away.
The bottom wafer of the Ledex switch was swinging in the breeze so I put it in the too hard basket.

Had another look at it Wednesday and then found some screws that fit the Ledex switch to hold the bottom wafer back on. Put the screws in and powered up the little beast for the first time.
The digital dial read 29 MHz and when I rotated the switch the indicated
bands changed. Great stuff. The electronics made no attempt to rotate the switch at first.

After a while it tried to shift the switch itself when I rotated it by hand and now when I rotate
the band switch it clicks but does not seem to have the power to rotate the wafers.
If I rotate it until it stops clicking it settles down on that band and it receives, quite well.
Have been listening to the action on 20M for quite some time today.

Questions:
The bits that held the wafer onto the switch were missing so I had to find suitable screws and a nut.
1. Is there a bush that stops the shaft rattling round in the Bottom wafer ? If yes, what does it look like?
2. I am wondering if it is simply the pulse is too short to turn the switch, could it be the capacitors in the multivibrator circuit that switch relay ?
