I am looking for a repair shop or person that can test and or repair my ICOM IC-R7100 Communications Receiver. I believe it is starting to go a tad bit deaf after 30 years. It’s a beautiful radio, but I noticed that a it is not hearing signals that my other receivers hear just fine using the same type antenna and coax. ICOM will not touch something this old.

I've got an R-7000 and an R-7100 myself. I'm signed up on a Yahoo R-7100 group but there's not a lot of traffic on it primarily because there are not a lot of people that still have the radio. But there are some really smart people on that group that do repairs and I'd recommend just doing a Google search for any Icom R-7100 Yahoo group. I believe it's the only one. It's a good resource. I wish I could tell you more right now but I'm not where I can do that and I don't have the info at hand right now. I signed up on it within the last 5 years and there are still new members that join and people posting everything from manuals to modifications and information that is helpful. It's just not a busy forum and you might go a few months without seeing any new emails. But every time somebody does post a question, it is replied to within a day I've noticed. It could definitely be a helpful resource where you can likely find somebody to help you with that work on your 7100.

I have an R7000 which still seems to work OK. Your 7100 probably needs new electrolytic capacitors - these dry out from age and usage and can cause poor receive, display issues, etc. The Yahoo group suggested above is probably the best bet.

Paul Hansen Radio Repair specializes in Icom. Good reviews on Eham, located in Georgia. There is a link to his website also. Last review was in 2024. It can't hurt to ask if he would be able to repair your radio.

This can get a bit expensive and a long wait for needed parts.
Recapping this radio is a job for experienced radio technicians with SMA background.
Alignment needs some advanced equipment you don't find in an average ham shack.
You can find service manuals with a good search.
