I've got a IC2730. I programmed the frequencies into the machine, then went back to insert R TONE data for repeaters in the memory bank. I followed the directions, and the tone takes when I get out of the menu structures (shows a "T" on the upper half of the display). If I change the preset and then go right back, it takes the tone I just stored off the memory.

But on other frequencies/repeaters, it holds the data just fine. I don't know what the difference is between one and another.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

Are you rewriting the information to memory after making the changes? Most radios won’t hold changes made “on the fly” without writing them to memory again. They revert to the actual memory programming when you tune away. To have all the settings-frequency, offset, squelch type and tone-should be entered prior to writing the channel to memory. That way all the needed parameters are in place.

You are 100% correct! There was a nice .pdf that Icom put out that explains just that! It was easy as soon as I figured that part out, and it was kind of a "head shaking" moment.

Makes sense, and if anyone happens to search for this thread in the future, I'll attach the .pdf to this.

Thanks, K6CPO!
