Hello thanks for looking.
I have IC-208H and appropriate programming USB cable and I wonder if I can use 3.5mm stereo female-to-2.5mm stereo male cable adapter to fit it into the ID-880H. I don't really feel like spending $$ on another cable only because Icom decided to change the data jack size.

Cheers

OK I did find 2.5mm stereo jack deep in junk box.
Made 1:1 adapter and it won't work with 880H.

Looking at the web, everyone sells the same USB cable with 3.5mm jack guaranteed to work on 208H as well as 880H. My 880H (ser#1502299) has 2.5mm jack, as well as the other digital, the 2820.

Interesting..

I may try and swap ring and tip and leave the ground as is, see if the magic smoke stays in.

Cheese and crackers!

The data port on the 880D is not for programing, it's done through the speaker jack...3.5mm stereo.

Getting too old for this, case closed.

Actually the data jack can be used. That's how I program mine. You just have to change a setting in one of the menus.

Haha! I understand that!
I found this out from googling home made programming cables.

It works really well. I love it because I can leave it plugged in all the time and done have to go hunting for the jack under my seat.
