I have a coworker that wants to put an Icom F4360 Type C Idas radio on our Nexedge trunking system. Do the icom radios require a system key like the kenwood units do to program it on the system.

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Yes, the iDAS type C will require an SKF. You'll find that the CS-F3360 cloning software looks eerily like Kenwood KPG-111D etc.

Also, some trunking systems are set up with access control that looks at either the full radio ESN or the first digits that indicate radio manufacturer.
If the trunked system is set up for that, the ESN will need to be programmed in and the ESN/Radio ID must match what the radio says.
If it's just the manufacturer ID, you'll need to know what the system administrator set up.
I do know that Kenwood uses "68" as their manufacturer ID. Not sure what Icom uses.
