• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I Live 5 miles into indiana from Illinois, and I can not pickup any starcom21 sites. Starcom towers are teaked to cover Illinios, but you wonder more than a few miles into indiana, and the CC drop like a rock.

South Bend is pretty far into Indiana to reliably hear Illinois traffic. You might hear some VHF high-band repeaters, or some of the CPD Zone and Citywide channels. I wouldn't expect to hear any StarCom21 sites.

Sometimes weather conditions are such that make longer distances possible, especially for VHF-high and especially in spring and early summer mornings.

the Indiana toll road has towers that go from the skyway(westpoint) to the ohio line(eastpoint) so no matter were you are along that road you are going to hear their traffic
