You can get a better antenna, place it in a better location, or focus it towards the transmitting source.

Sorry if i wasnt much help.

it has a 12db sinad of .3uV at VHF and .4uV at UHF, any more and it will just be hearing the noise floor anyway on vhf. are you sure you need better sensitivity and not a better antenna?

This has been suggested 3 times now.. maybe the OP needs a new antenna.... ;)

Is there any way to increase the sensitivity of the BC72XLT?
thanks

what are you trying to listen to that you can't hear well enough? freq/mode

what is your current antennae/coax setup.

you could always try a GRE Pre-Amp

I have upgraded antennas already to a 6" VHF rubber duckie.
I am comparing reception side by side with a base unit/telescopic antenna.
The BC72 does not receive as well even when interchanging antennas from one another.

(scanning VHF band centered around 155 most of the time)

a rubber duckie is not going to rx as well as a larger antenna.

a rubber duckie is not going to rx as well as a larger antenna.

correct..... as I just stated in my previous reply

"The BC72 does not receive as well even when interchanging antennas from one another."
as in "base telescopic to VHF aftermarket rubber duck"

ok......... no outdoor antenna already. I already have a base , I got a handheld to be portable.

I just wanted to know if the attenuator could be adjusted or clipped because its receiver performance is lower than my mobiles and bases using the identical antennas on simultaneous bench testing

I've seen a couple of these (and quite a number of other Uniden radios) that have unsoldered or badly soldered antenna connections, and a little hit with an iron makes it come alive. I used to find a lot of the older RS scanners, both GRE and Uniden made that were totally out of alignment. One of the Uniden ones received better 5KHZ off freq! I don't know if parts values changed after being "broken in", or it got whacked during shipping. My Pro-2005 was very deaf on VHF until I found the alignment procedure and carefully did it. It really woke it up.
