This looks neat.

 I already got rid of my MTI dish when A went away.

Hopfully the fold out antenna from an O'Gara mini M will work.

Also, does this need a discriminator tap or will regular audio work?

-C decoder

Hi,

That is a pity you got shot of the dish ;-( typical eh! A standard-M panel antenna along with a suitable preamp should be perfect. As for the connection to the receiver, a standard headphone / speaker out to the PC is fine, you need to tune the rx in SSB mode, rather than FM.

I just have seen that one of the guys in the #hearsat IRC reports a perfect decode using a paper-clip antenna up the front of a mini-kits L-Band LNA!!! amazing. Obviously though, the more SNR the better, it means that the error correction in the decoder doesnt have to work so hard. I'd think actually that one of those satellite TV line amplifiers would just about do as an L-Band 'LNA'!

Paperclip WOW !

OK, well the fold out antenna should do the trick then. I have a Down East Microwave preamp and also a minikits preamp. The minikits seems to have a bit more gain. I sold the AOR AR3000A as well but I have an Icom R-20. It seemed to work ok when A was still active so hopefully it would work for this as well.

I'm curious when a full release is scheduled and what the cost will be.

Thanks for the info!

No prob re the info, If you get it working or want some tips etc, visit our #hearsat IRC, the author of the decoder is usually around!

The antenna / preamp / radio combo you have should certainly be no problem!

regards,

Paul.
