Its not a "Scanner Feed" really since it does not have any audio. Its mostly a Live CAD, similar to CHP's in the office that says current working incidents. There is a more "Special" Version that VIP's and the media has access to that displays stuff that the current one you mentioned does not. Stuff like shootings, pursuits, injuries people sustained, vehicle/person information, etc.

Its a great site though. Ive been using it for years, and I am currently in the process of getting credentials for the Media Version of it.

must be like they use in the truTV show Stringers-LA as it appears they all have laptops in their cars, with some sort of broadband cards.

Interesting that some departments are going full encryption to keep everything secret and others are putting up sites like this saying, "Look, we have nothing to hide."

yes and even search "Los Angeles Communications Center"
the first thing comes up is the CAD Dispatch then the list of LAFD 800MHz frequencies are listed
they have nothing to hide, but yet are one of the most busiest police departments and with all the stuff going on, things might happen, but maybe not there, they give you the list of freqs.

Glad you posted it here. I found it a year or so back, but since I only check the Georgia forums, I would have never looked in the California forum!

Yeah, it's gotta be interesting to say the least. I wouldn't want to get shot at, but if they get the 'money shot' and can get it to the networks, I betcha they get lots of $$$$. They have some cool stuff, think they have a lot of 780, 785D, or 796s, plus receive only spectras in addition to their laptops. I also saw one guy with a 396 clipped to his visor.

Oh dear God. Not this argument.

The CHP CAD site is highly censored. None of the officer initiated activity will be on there. Nothing enforcement related will be on there. It's basically ONLY crashes. It's extremely useful for traffic information, but is hardly beneficial for the rest of CHP's activities.

And as posted by someone else - most of us in CA have been aware of it for years. But it is a very good link with great info.

The CHP-CAD system has been available for about 10 years. That's where the local radio stations have been getting their traffic information from. It's invaluable if your job is delivering on-time packages or if you need to see if chain controls up during the winter.
