I've been putting together a list of international frequencies. A list for any user traveling abroad to begin listening to some stuff when they arrive at their destination.

Here's what I have so far. If you think of anything to add to the list please post it


121.500 aircraft emergency

156.800 maritime international distress

maritime frequencies

FRS channels are used pretty much in every country even if not legally noted by the govt for use. just about any tourist trap in the world.

123.450 are often used between pilots.
In Europe there are a standard FRS type of radios called PMR446 that you can buy at gas stations for $50 a pair. It's 8 frequencies and can be heard almost everywhere in populated areas and at events.

I think all countries that have these type of radios should just create a global standard and certification system so that you can use FRS type radios anywhere you travel.

- What steps have you undertaken, or will, toward accomplishing that endeavor?
- What is your plan toward addressing the various power output limitations that differ from country to country? Basically, if a standard is certified, should the U.S.A. be limited to 10 mW like Japan, or should Japan and other countries increase their output to match that of the U.S. or even higher?
- Also, which frequencies should be standard?

- None, because it’s not my job and because I have another job that requires my time. It should be something radio manufacturers do because it benefits them more.

- That’s what the standards organization is for. Figure out what’s best and move forward.
