FYI. Dallas County E911 has voted to take Dallas County to a P25 based VHF system. Details are still in the works and funding is being acquired. Stay tuned for updates. Also Waukee Fire/PD will be joining Westcom as of around July

Wow, interesting reading. From a previous life of mine, I worked for a company making interoperability gear that Racom was using. They are an interesting company. I hope they make everything work together.

My experience, Racom is heavy into Harris radios and Zetron dispatch gear. These don't work well together. Harris pushed for Racom to upgrade P25 flash versions. Upgrades that did not work with the dispatch equipment.

Racom has a lot of good technicians, but they do not share knowledge between sites very well. Their leader Steve Holmes is also a piece of work when he is yelling on the phone about things his people should have know better about.

Will all of the politicians visiting that part of the country, this is pushing a lot of upgrades of equipment in the field and the PSAP's (911 call centers). I am glad to not be in the middle of that train wreck anymore.

Since Iowa State renamed their computer services called ISCIS, Will State of Iowa rename theirs from ISICSB?

I'd be suprised if they did since I think that would require action on the part of the state legislature..

To clarify I'm referring to the board..the 700MHz radio system is another story entirely

The statewide system that is being deployed is being referred to as the ISICS, Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System. I guess there are only so many ways you can say the same thing when naming a wide area radio system, I wonder if there is a team of people locked in a board room with a thesaurus making them up for the sales team.

Everything you ever wanted to know about ISICS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Co9ekY8lj_Q

Still a good source of information all the net meetings are on youtube and they have some good graphics of the build out of the system. Looks like most of the system may be built by the end of August with fill-ins through first quarter of 2018. The actual movement to the network will be longer.
