• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is a apx 6000li and xts5000 worth a purchase?

With rx only i found two as a package deal for $300 already programmed so what is the difference between these and a unication g4 pager anything as far as receive sensitivity?

$300 for both?
That would be a red flag on it's own.

XTS are old radios, 20+ by now and many have lead a hard life. They won't do P25 Phase 2. The usefulness of it depends on the band split and it's flash code. Any 20 year old radio that hasn't had a recent visit to the service monitor would be questionable.

APX-6000 at $300 is way below market value. Again, pay attention to band split and flash code. An abnormally low asking price should raise some concerns.

"Pre-programmed" makes me think "stolen", so unless you know the seller well, be wary. At minimum, be careful with a radio that someone may have tried to do NAS on and possibly screwed up. A system admin killing your new radio makes for an expensive doorstop, or a hard conversation with said system admin.

A radio like that for $300, if it's not hot, probably has been beat to within an inch of its life. Service monitor trip would be advised.

For both, consider that the batteries would need to be replaced, as well as the antennas, unless you know for sure they are in good shape (verifiable, not just by looks).

Compare all the unknowns of used radios to a new Unication that will support Phase 2, has a warranty, and I'd not have a hard time making the decision to go with the Unication. No concerns about a Unication having a bootlegged radio ID that gets killed by system manager.

What's the significance of this description that they are "rx only"? These are two way radios, do they not two way?

Oh I am sure they still "2 way" just fine. It sounds like someone has reprogrammed the radios for NAS/NRS. Whether or not they actually did that correctly to where the radios will not register/affiliate is the big question.
As others have said too many red flags with this deal. Anyone selling an APX for $300 wants to get rid of it quickly and If Pete Rose were a betting man I would bet that Charlie Hustle would bet that radio is a lost or stolen radio from a local system in the OPs area.

Well the guy supposedly said that he was getting a lot of questions asked of him that's why he took the listing down off of Facebook marketplace but then he goes and leaves the messenger group that me and him were talking about him so yeah red flags a bound glad I didn't buy them from him probably hot as you can touch a pot pipe and I would have gotten in trouble if these things affiliate with the system and they would have gotten brick and I'd be out $300.
