One thing I hated about my older BCD396XT was there was no mute button. If I'm driving around and need to take a call or at a drivethrough or whatever, I would love to be able to mute it. I've got the BCD436HP now, but it similarly appears to lack a mute function. Only option I've found is to poke the volume knob, twist it all the way around a couple few times till volume is zero (especially from 15), and poke it again to set it. It's not handy to do while driving and certainly not instant.
I've been experimenting with the ScannerMonitor.com Chrome extension since I keep the 436 on my desk during the day (working from home). I notice it has a "Mute" button on it. I realize it's doing that programmatically through the USB connection, but that rekindled my curiosity.
Is there any way to press a button to mute the 436? I can't seem to find it in any manual. Even a double-press of the volume knob or something would be better than current manual volume adjustment or pressing and holding (while it's blaring at you and you're trying to be on the phone with a client) to turn it off.
