• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hi All,

For those who went to IWCE 2024, anything worthwhile to share? I saw a lot of great topics concerning LTE and LMR integration, it seems like this is the way the industry is heading for better or for worse...

I only got to the expo floor for about 90 minutes due to teaching all week. I got to this one

It turns out Terry lives about 20 minutes south of us so we had a brief chat after this talk was done.

Agreed. I wonder what their attendance numbers in the 2 Orlando shows are compared to recent shows in Las Vegas.

I was wondering the same thing. I remember after the first Orlando experiment they were not happy and said they were going to stick to Las Vegas. I guess they forgot, or assumed something changed.

I had 8 students in 2018, 20 this time, overall the ETA ed forum had numbers similar to Vegas last year from what I saw.
Next year we're back in Vegas, March 17-20. Got my car and room booked.

My wife attended some of the 75 min sessions since I was teaching, she heard comments about
'next time it's here I'm sending someone else.'

We had a travel nightmare going home. Tom and I got done with our RFI class early so I got on aa.com and found a 5.15pm flight out that got us home at 9.30 vs our original 7pm getting in just after midnight.

I put us on standby and we were 1 and 2 out of 23 open seats. We got to the ticket counter at 4 and by the time we got to the gate we dropped to 4 and 5. Not long after that a flight died while taxiing and 2 bus loads of passengers were dropped off at a stair case. Not long after that there was a long line of folks at the American service desk.

Soon after that we heard all stand by seats were gone, then I started getting texts about flight delays for ATC reasons. We left about 8.30 and landed in Charlotte just as our connection to Indy was scheduled to leave. I did the Olympic sprint down 2 hall ways only to see the gate agent turn on the flight closed sign.

We ended up spending the night there, at first the best alternate flight AA offered was a 5pm flight to DFW getting us home about 11.30pm. I pleaded our case and got an 8am flight to ATL with a 4 hour layover before taking a Delta flight home. We landed about 3.30 and went bag claim to see if our bags made the connection.

Mine did, was scanned in at 12.33am Friday but the girl could not find it, my wife's was somewhere between ATL and CLT. We got home at 4.30pm. I got on my bike for a ride and about 6 got a call from the Delta baggage office saying my bag was there. I had them to take it to AA and then AA called to say Linda's bag would be in about 11pm.

We finally got them delivered sometime Sat morning, I was on another ride by then.

Thanks, put it on my calendar and will put this in my request for next fiscal year.

That sucks, and one of the many reasons I hate flying. Nice thing about Las Vegas is I can drive that in a day without any flight BS.

No way I'm going to Orlando in August.

I've seen suggestions of Baltimore in 2025. I think I'll wait for it to be west of the Rockies again.
I felt I could make one work trip out of state this year. TDEM at the end of May is of course in-state and only a few hours away.

Orlando in August is one degree cooler than what I imagine Hell to feel like. When I was in NEFL, i dreaded going to central FL. All the benefits of the humidity without the wonderful sea breeze to cool your dripping sweat!

I have to go to a meeting in San Antonio later this month (not radio related). I really like the APCO conference, almost better than IWCE, but can't quite swing both this year. Will absolutely hit IWCE next year and will wait for APCO to come back to the west coast.

Yeah, I was there once in late July. No offense to anyone that lives there (or Houston, for that matter) but I ain't putting myself through that again. I'm too spoiled by west coast low humidity.

I actually moved closer to SA so I'm no longer in the DFW area. I've got ICS-300 at the end of the month...but it's local to my office.

Attending those shows is bad enough; I had to exhibit at them in Orlando, New Orleans, and Atlanta. Miserable in many ways. At least NO and Atlanta had some incredible food to make up for it.
