Here is what I heard the other day while in Birmingham /Jefferson County.
Active Trunking Control Channels: System ID: M36: A73C
(cc) Control Channel

Here is a list of the current control channels I found while in Birmingham /Jefferson County.
There may be more CC’s but I was only able to find these freq’s.

Active Trunking Control Channels: System ID: M36: A73C
(c) Control Channel

852.61250 c > 857.23750 c > 854.6375 c - < (Previous trip) cc heard
^The first Control Ch. was active then it switched over to the next CC, then it switched back.
^The last time I was in B,Ham the active control channel was on 854.6375.
^ All 3 of these CC's appear to be at the same tower site or location & only
^ one CC is active at any given time.
All of these control channels below were active at the same time at different locations.
System ID: M36: A73C
853.27500 c
853.72500 c
855.63750 c
855.68750 c
856.31250 c Weak signal - Too far away to trunk 15-25% copy

System ID: M36: 4D3E
856.98750 c Vestavia Hills - Too far away to trunk 15-25% copy
^ System ID: 4D3E ^

From what I can tell the System ID of 1828 does not exist
I just came back from Birmingham the other day and all of the TRS control channel frequencies
are using the A73C System ID.
I did not find any frequencies using the 1828 ID. This may be an old system ID no.

I assume that both the Birmingham public safety system and Jefferson County is a combined system
all of which should be under the A73C System ID
All frequencies are on 851-862 MHz. band, the old frequencies on 851-868 MHz. band have been re-banded
over to the new frequencies and should be currently in use on the A73C System.

Here is some additional frequencies heard in the area.
153.5300
PL 192.8 Repeater output - Police or Sheriff traffic ref. Hwy.'s 11/31/95
^ Listed as the Alabaster Water Board : WNCL866 - IG ?
^ Anyone know what this freq. Is used for?

154.9875 Output Chilton County EMA – Call sign: WQCT622 - PW
158.8875 Input
^ PL 131.8 Not listed in R/R

St. Clair Co Fire Fighters Assoc. New narrowband freq.’s - Emission Type:7K60FXE
Call sign:WQLW602- PW
(Emission designator for MotoTRBO digital voice operation - 7K60FXE ).
Several new frequencies listed below. - Not listed in R/R

153.8225 Input
154.3175 Output
154.9875 Output
155.9225 Input
156.0825 Input
156.2325 Input
159.3825 PL 167.9 ? Output - Traffic heard near Jefferson County
Has anyone heard these freq.’s yet?

167.5350 Encrypted Digital voice traffic - P25

407.5500 Key up - no voice
408.5750 Analog voice traffic
409.4375 Digital voice traffic - P25
410.4500 Analog - Steady key up - no voice
^ PL 146.2 ^

Does anyone know what frequencies UAB police in Birmingham are using?
R/R shows VHF freq.’s.
The UAB patrol cars and SUV’s have 800 MHz. low profile and 800 MHz. short whip
antennas with pigtail on them.
They also had some type of flat style round or oval black antenna mounted on each vehicle.
I did not see a VHF antenna on the vehicles.

JeffCo Frequencies

The Bham VA used 407.475 for Transportation, 408.0375 for Maintenance and 408.575 for Patient Escort all with a DPL of 134. All I show for the 409.550 is in use in Huntsville for Marshall SFC and Redstone Arsenal. It may be a Low Power frequency for the VA I am not able to pick up at home in Center Point.

UHF 406-420 MHz.

Thanks for the info on the 400 MHz. UHF Freq.'s
I was very close to the B,ham VA when I heard those freq.'s so that is a good possibility
of who they were.
The next time I am near there I will do some more scanning to see what I find
If anyone has any more freq.'s they know about around there between 406.000 to 420.000 MHz.
maybe someone can post a list to R/R database for everyone to see.
Here is what I have so far.
This is what I heard, I assume that these were conventional freq.’s not trunked or repeater. I am not sure. I did not hear or find a control channel.
407.5500 Key up - no voice
408.5750 Analog voice traffic
409.4375 Digital voice traffic - P25
410.4500 Analog - Steady key up - No voice
^ PL 146.2 ^

Thanks for these frequencies, I will add them to my list.
407.4750 DPL 134 B,ham VA – Transportation
408.0375 DPL 134 B,ham VA - Maintenance
408.5750 DPL 134 B,ham VA - Patient Escort
409.4375 Fayette / Lafayette ??
407.5500 VA related, Fayette / Lafayette??

I was using an outside UHF mobile magnet mount antenna on my scanner on the vehicle
but a antenna designed for UHF in the 406-420 frequency range may be better.
I will try a different antenna next time and turn on my PL / DPL search.

Thanks for the help

The frequencies below are not licensed, but I did see them trying to show up on one of the control channels
while trunking for some reason. No traffic was heard, and the scanner would never lock onto those freq.'s
I am not sure why they kept showing up. I only saw them on one control channel.
