I ran discovery on the trunked system for about 10 hours yesterday and found several unid TGs. I'll try to put them separately in a favorites list to see what they are.

Also, the VHF frequency of 153.905 listed as KCSO tac was being used as a simulcast of the bailiff's courthouse TG. (And just started again at 08:00)

Any tips for IDing and scanning these TGs would be appreciated. I'll keep on searching and finding what I can.

Thanks,
E

  • Generally, Talk Groups (TG) are assigned in ranges. Say TGs 33xxx is asigned to City A; and TGs 17XXX are assigned to City B.
  • Adjacent TGs are possibly used by the same dept. For example, if TG 202 is 'Police Dispatch' and you hear activity on TG 203 then 203 is most likely a PD TG, too.
  • Watch the UIDS on the TGs. You can follow them around. If you see UID 7701625 on the 'SO Dispatch' TG, then you later see 7701625 on an UnID TG then you most likely have found another SO TG. Further, If you hear 7701625 tell another unit to go to 'SO Ops3' and you see that unit move to an UnID TG then you now the name of TG of it's no longer UnID.

There are a ton of exceptions.
