<p>
Greetings all,
<p>
I thought I would share my rudimentary installation. The setup is a bit messy now, but I just got the 246T and MVS installed this past weekend.
<p>
I am waiting on some antennas and mounts to come in so I can buckle this whole thing up. Even if it doesn’t come out beautifully, I can live with it because it is a 14 year old S-10 Blazer I just use to cruise around in at college here at K-State.
<p>
The bracket the MVS and G707 are mounted to is a homemade device I welded together in high school. There just is not any good place to mount a radio on the dash. Add to that my unwillingness to buck the $65 for the separation cable. The Kenwood is Velcro wed to the MVS then strapped with 18 inch zip ties. Not sexy, but it has teeth.
<p>
The scanner mount I am most proud of. I was looking all over the place for a dash mount phone cradle that did not attach to the vent. Couldn’t find one. So I spent a couple of hours in the Home Depot doing some brainstorming. I ended up with some Velcro and a cheap package of broom/shovel brackets. $2.99 for two I think.
<p>
At first I just put the stiff part of the Velcro on the smooth backing of the implement mount and that held well to the dash pad. However, it sagged too much because the dash pad is just Velcrow wed itself, so I just put in a couple of sheet metal screws. Again, 14-year-old truck, who cares. It looks fine.
<p>
All I had to do was shave off some of the ridge on the rear of the bracket to allow the belt clip to slide over it. The bracket even has a rising edge to keep the scanner from sliding off to the right. I gave it a tough test drive down the not-so-well maintained roads of Manhattan, KS and it didn’t shake a bit.
<p>
Remember, the pictures are of preliminary installation. I have a Motorola amp’d speaker and some outside NMO antennas coming for the scanner and MVS. Should have a fully functional Saturday Night Drunk Chaser... umm I mean storm spotter by next weekend. The power, antenna and speaker wires will all be bundled up and hidden as best as possible.
<p>
Hey! You have to be very creative for entertainment when you don’t drink in a college town. And yes, it is that bad out here when you value your liver and brain cells. :)
<p>
Comments appreciated, bring ‘em on, and thanks for looking.
<p>
I'll get some outside pictures of my heepa-sheepa after I get the antennas up.

AWESOME idea to put a key ring clip on the strap. A small carabeener would be better for me. Either way, that is an excellent idea !!!
