• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have heard some people talking about a portable and mobile version of the NX-5000 Series but an Analog, DMR, and NXDN Only model with no P25 capability. I believe it was like 5200S/5300S. Has anyone else heard about this or happens to have a Data Sheet?

Yes, the radio was announced today, the screen is Black on White by software.
No, a release date has not been posted. basically told, it's NX-3000 with a 5000 body.
Same goes for the mobile 57/5800-S.
I have asked about the remote kits, was told, Single Deck, Single Head. KRK-14 and KRK-15. No multi deck.

As a countermeasure to the NX-3x00/3x20 delay, JVCKENWOOD has developed the NX-5000S Series (models below) as a substitute. NX-5000S models will be available starting July, 2021. Please refer to the included NX-5000S Portable and Mobile Product Sheets to reference model similarities and differences.

Yep, same thing I heard form my Kenwood rep. We're using NX-3400's and NX-3300's at work, so if we need to purchase anything right now, it's going to be the NX-5000S line.

I feel bad for the 900MHz people that are going to have issues

Is there a 900MHz mobile/portable from Anterix? I was just implying the NX-3901 / 3401 customers don't have an NX-5000 model to fall on.

No, I was referring to Anterix buying up 900MHz spectrum thanks to the FCC changing rules for them. Anterix is getting 10MHz of spectrum to build out a nationwide LTE network. Because we really need another LTE network (sarcasm)

But, yes, correct, 900MHz LMR radios from Kenwood does have a crimp in the supply line.

Just out of curiosity, will they be interfering with the ISM band at all. Just bought a fleet of DTR license-free portables that are in the ISM (902-928) range.

No, it's below and above ISM.

And I was incorrect, it's not 10MHz. They are getting a total of 6MHz, 3MHz for uplink and 3MHz for downlink.
Anterix will be using:
897.5MHz to 900.5MHz
936.5MHz to 939.5MHz

ISM is 902MHz to 928MHz as the primary user. Ham radio has the same spectrum for the 33cm band as a secondary user.

Your radios/investment is safe.
