• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The documents list the following mic options:
KMC-9C was the desktop mic
KMC-27A was the noise cancelling mic
KMC-27B was the standard mic
KMC-28A was the Keypad mic with noise cancelling.

mostly all of kenwood 8pin rj45 mics will work on that radio. as the pin out is the same and has not changed. if all you are getting when you push the ptt is a beep that means the radio is trying to key up but there is something wrong. is the radio programed with a tx frequency? and if so what frequency are you trying to key up on (ham, gmrs, PS?, BB) because if it is more of a higher pitch beep it could be a vco unlock but if it is a lower pitch bonk than it is most likely a programing problem.

With a radio was purchased off of eBay and there was programming already on it on the business band and I just figured I'd cut it on check it out see if it was fully functional 100% And when I key up after about 5 to 10 seconds it starts beeping and the little red light will blink red

Might be an LTR trunked channel.
Might have a time out timer set.

Likely not an issue with the mic.
A good idea to not transmit on it until you get it programmed for frequencies you are licensed for. No telling who it might be interfering with.

Yeah I don't plan on that I bought it to use at work with a Paving Company I work with they have license channels on the business band and one side for today I'm going to try to program it then check it once again cuz that's what I was thinking there was a problem with the programming itself that was causing it to cut out like that and beep cuz I can cut it on right now and push any number and it'll beep but I can't hit the up or down button to change the channel it'll just beep no matter what button I push it beeps

Or programming could have been deleted prior to sale.

That's usually what I do with radios that get surplussed or e-wasted. Just to keep people from transmitting where they shouldn't be. Program them for RX only, or to transmit where it won't cause issues for public safety users, like some random frequency in the ham bands with time out timer set really short.
