Hi all,

After recently installing my *brand new-old* TM-D700 as my first mobile rig, I have come upon problems. After the painstaking task of programming all repeaters in the area via the front keypad, it seems the radio does not hold all of its memory. I am able to save the repeater channels which is most important, however if I can I would like to keep the other stuff too. My power on message with my call, and the channel/frequency I left off on is reset to its default and I need to go back and find all of my programmed memory channels. I tried to check the manual but there was nothing to try about this. The radio is also constantly hooked up to a power source as it is direct to the battery, not through the cars alternator/fusebox.

Although this is not an emergency with this radio as the channels are still remembers: Is there anything that I can do to prevent the memory loss of some of the info?

Thanks, Katt

I'd check the memory battery. Could be low and causing errors.

The D700 uses an EEPROM for storage of memory channels. The backup battery is only for the date/time in the TNC. The problem most likely is a voltage regulator and possibly electrolytic caps gone bad in the control head and radio itself. Common problem for the early (2000-2005) production run of these radios. Eventually, the radio may not power on, or will shut off by itself, act erratic, etc.
