I have a new Kenwood TS-2000. I have only tried using it in the 2 mtr band as that is the only antenna I have at the moment.

When transmitting, the repeater hears my carrier, as indicated by its beep when the carrier drops, but no modulation occurs. I've tried 2 mics, the stock Kenwood and a Heil headset. I've checked mic level both using the MIC button on the panel and menu item 41.

Thinking it might be a repeater issue, I set up a little simplex test. Still no audio.

Here's the basic setup;

Mode: FM
Band 2 mtr
Xmit pwr; 30
Mic gain (using front panel switch); 100
Mic gain (using menu item 41): High

I'm hoping there is a simple setting I have missed.

BTW, I am under the impression that the front panel MIC button only sets mic gain for AM and SSB modes and that only menu item #41 sets mic gain for FM. Is that correct?

Have you confirmed that either microphone works OK on other modes / frequencies / radios? If the rig isn't transmitting ANY audio, but the mics work elsewhere, it could be a problem related to the mic connection on the rig itself.
