Several years ago I bought a TS 940 to use strictly for ute monitoring as I am not a ham. Maybe a year ago while I was using it the l.e.d. display went nuts and the radio SMOKED! As far as I can tell the radio is junk as un-known to me the previous owner had put an oversize fuse in it. Regardless, my question is ; Would this rig have any value as salvage if I were to put it on eBay?

Probably would. This is a "classic" radio going for $700-800 plus in the used market when working. Many rate is as superior to its replacement--the TS-950. Too bad the previous owner put the wrong fuse in it. Any optional filters installed could be pulled out and sold separately. Good luck!

It is a good radio. Anyone with the right equipment and skill can fix it reasonably. The problem likely is not all that serious. The oversize fuse only allowed whatever to happen. That doesn't mean extensive trouble. Paraticularly if you are never using the transmit side or power.
