Within the last 2 months the analog broadcasts of the Kosciusko (155.875, 151.085) and Elkhart County (155.655) have gone silent. i have tried to pick them up on multiple scanners without success. Have they gone to 800 mhz digital trunked? Radio Reference continues to list the above frequencies as their primary dispatch channels. Thanks to anyone who can provide info on this. Mac

Whiskey3jmc and gto_04, thank you for your answers. I thought HOOSIER SAFE-T was just a rebroadcast for interops. Is it a new system that allows county law enforcement to join and basically switch and drop their analog frequencies? Could you tell me how I can hear broadcasts on SAFE-T? Does it require a digital trunked scanner? Can one pick up the SAFE-T broadcasts on a digital scanner with the close call feature? I have a BC325P2 which is somewhat difficult to deal with unless one wants to read 200 pages of fine print! Thank you for any assistance you can give.

SAFE-T is the primary communications system for the whole state. It is not a rebroadcast for interop. System Information Here is the State official page about it. You need a digital scanner, and no need for close call. You will need to learn about simulcast distortion and trunking basics, and a few other things to fully enjoy monitoring. Hit up the wiki, and the other threads in the forums. Also, see the "Easier to read" manuals for your scanner. And here is the SAFE-T rrdb page: Indiana Project Hoosier SAFE-T Trunking System, Statewide, Multi-State

milf, thank you for your response. I have looked at the easier to read manual site and intend to use it. West-pac do you know the current frequency for K-county? The scanner I used for years stopped picking them up all of a sudden on 155.875. I looked on RR and saw an alternative freq which I didn't remember seeing before. It was 151.085. But still no luck. I even brought a table scanner to K-county and tried out those frequencies but no luck. So, since you say they aren't on 800 mhz yet, where did they go??? Thanks, Mac

west-pac, you're right, you didn't say that. I just assumed that if they weren't on SAFE-T yet they wouldn't be on 700-800mhz. If they are currently constructing a P25 system they probably would still be broadcasting on vhf, so I guess I'll keep monitoring that band. Thanks again!

So, anything new with Kosciusko County? Warsaw Police Dept is silent...I have put in the new 700 control channels..no hit...down to one County LE, Fire on one analog and one digital, and the EMS on digital..but on the old 800 system...wondering if you have any new info??? Was said in our local newspaper, Fire would be going next on the 700 Phase 2 system..

Thanks to all who have answered my inquiries about Elkhart and K county sheriff frequencies. However I'm still unclear on where Kosciusko County can be found. west-pac says that K-county won't be on Safe-T for 6 to 9 months and INDaviation says they're on Safe-T now until their own system is completed. If K-County isn't on Safe-T where can it be found? Or how do I locate the proper frequency on the Safe-T system? Sorry for my inability to comprehend this.

It appears they now moved over to their own system now.
