Are you listening to Wichita/Sedgwick County or Reno County?

I have the entire state frequency database programmed into my HP-1.

As a workaround what I did was, I copied all the KSICS frequency on to on an excel spreadsheet and then removed the duplicates frequency from it, then I added back into the Sentinel Software and uploaded it to my HP-1. Please note, I update the frequencies as new information is upload in the RR Database.

Then I set the Dispatch talk groups I want to listen to as I'm traveling thru out the state, it works great going from Central KS to the Kansas City area no matter whether I'm on I-35 or I-70, or any of the State HWY's as I lose signal from the CC channel and pick a new one it switches seamlessly.

There is no Yoder tower. The closest KSIS towers to that area are Partridge SW of Hutchinson, the Harvey County simulcast tower NE of Burrton, and the Sedgwick County tower north of Wichita. It's just likely that you truly are in a dead spot between those towers.

I could not remember if Yoder had an active tower or not, I also agree there might be a small dead zone in the area of K-96 near the Reno/Sedwick county border, I know it is bordering Troop F Dispatch F-2 and Wichita Metro F-1 dispatch, yesterday I heard Troop F Dispatch F-2 while in Wichita this time. It's also possible there was just no one affiliated Troop F Dispatch F-2 on the Wichita/Sedwick towers when I went thru there in the past, or there was just no traffic when I went thru there.

Thanks for all the information.

Best KSICS Scanner?

Hey everyone. I had a scanner for about 4 years. Hosted a feed in Manhattan for a year and then eventually moved to the Wichita area a couple years ago. At the time I had a GRE PSR-500 and I loved it, was streaming my scanner tags online with my feed all. It was a sweet setup.

Unfortunately after moving to Wichita, the PSR-500 didn't do well with the simulcast system and I ended up selling it.

So now it's been 2 years, I was wondering if things have improved and what the best scanner is that works with this system. Antennas too. I read through the last few years on this thread just to make sure someone else didn't ask the same.

It seems to me that the Wichita broadcastify is in need of better fire and EMS streams. But if I recall, they just take the initial call and then use their computers for everything else? So maybe it doesn't matter anyway since they will be boring...no details.

Anyway thought I would ask. Thanks

I just got back to Wichita, a few months ago. I had nothing but a hard time with the Sedgwick System and my GRE-600's/500's and the RS, PRO-197-106's. I went and got two UNICATION G4's.. Wow, what a difference. The simulcast issues are not an issue any longer. And with the newest firmware, they are also PII ready. I also picked up two, XTS-5000's... Another great radio. Getting them programmed isn't as easy as the G4's and G5's... But NO simulcast issues there also. If interested in the XTS-5000, just PM me... I'll point ya in the same direction everyone else will. Nice little place in Derby.

Thanks for the reply! These appear to me that they are more of a handheld radio than a scanner? Or do they also have the scanning capability built into them?

I was hoping someone with a HomePatrol 1 or 2 unit would be able to tell me how they work. Or the new Uniden BearTracker scanners.

Thanks

4431 is Techs EMS. They use it for their VA Contract.

I believe that 4759 is one of the Douglas County tacticals that I have been hearing.

I have heard 4759 in the clear on mine.

As for Techs EMS, here is their website ... https://ksems.com/

They do EMS for Osage, Nemaha and Jackson County and then got the contract for non-emergency work at VA for their interfacility stuff.

I just finished programming a couple radios and I believe 4441 is the Jackson Co Jail and 4443 I believe this is the Hoyt Fire talkaround channel

4582 is the USD113 Busses from up at Sabetha. I know I heard them when they were in town for something at WU awhile back.

I know a long time ago someone obtained the entire template for talkgroups on KSICS through a FOIA request. Hopefully that person sees this. I'm thinking about doing it again and am curious as to how much it costs.

I have the template from 2011, though I'm not the person who initially requested it. I think they usually charge per page (10-20 cents, depending on the agency). Good luck getting it. Kansas is notorious for not making it easy for people to obtain certain records (they do the run-around game while giving BS excuses).

Anyone have any luck picking up anything in Leavenworth County here in Douglas County of Franklin County? I can pick stuff up twice the distance as Leavenworth County but for some reason I can not get anything from Leavenworth County.

I was just wondering about a updated one myself yesterday. I hadn't kept up with the scanner and radio stuff in a few years. Trying to get my scanner up to date. Seems Lyon Co SO switched to KSICS as i hear stuff on that new talkgroup but nothing on 450 for awhile now. But the audio sounds way different. Does the KSICS system sound different then the analog 450mhz? Sounds like the way the KHP sounds when they talk. I saw in the local news something about Emporia or LYCO was talking about leasing tower space NE of Emporia for 800mhz but the article didn't say for what. Nice how the local news leaves out everything useful for us radio people.
