I wonder how the new system in coming along. Have not heard any updates on it.

As I understand it...The console furniture was scheduled for delivery and installation at the end of January. The radio design review with EF Johnson was going to be finalized by the February committee meeting. The project continues to be paid out at the benchmarks set in the contract. Equipment installation is scheduled for July 2020. System testing and acceptance is scheduled for September - October, 2020. The mobiles and portables are going to be EFJohnson Viking series.
That's good that they are looking at sep-oct 2020. I was not expecting it to move that quick. I'm guessing they are going to go with vp900 dual band radios so they can still use VHF
