L Band Noise Level Jumping Up and Down.

The noise level of my L Band receiver is jumping up and down to the point that Inmarsat signals are completely wiped out for a instant. The jumping is very rapid and random.

Satellite is POR.

Are you experiencing this now because it was thinking Is it possible this is space weather related with the solar flare? I was thinking HF only but maybe someone here has been through a solar flare on L Band before.

everything has been normal for months but yesterday and this morning impossible to decode data.

My L band set up consists of a helical antenna and a LOW NOISE preamp. The signal level will fluctuate because 800 MHz cellular and 1900 MHz PCS signals easily ride on the helical element and the LNA has no out of band rejection. I see you have a patch antenna. It may fare no better from PCS signals.

Are you experiencing this now?

All three of my systems are rock solid.
I'm looking at 98W, 143E and 25E.
Solid decode rates on all three, no changes.
Might be something new in your local area.
