Time for a little detective work; take a look at the HTs they use at the quarry; specifically, the antenna size. If it's about 6 inches or so, take a look at the VHF hi band business freqs; 2 or 3 inches or thereabouts, the 460 mhz business band, an inch or less, 800. I wouldn't ignore FRS and/or GMRS either.

If you can get close enough, take a look at the top of the radio; if it has a colored dot on it, note it; each colored dot is associated with a given frequency. I believe you can look that up on this site somewhere....

Of course, you'd need to be pretty close to isolate the quarry's activity from anyone else on the same freqs. If you have a small HT (many ham HTs have extended receive ranges these days) or a small scanner, use the smallest antenna you have and scan away.

If you have a PRO83 with that Close Capture facility, that might work even better.
