Not that specific antenna, and it does look a little pricey.

I do have experience with Laird antennas, however, and they usually are good performers.

Yeah, so far I am happy with the Laird ABSCANC I purshased, hence the reason "I may" be willing to shell out for this other one in the future if I can find some reviews.

Anybody have any experience with this antenna as scanner antenna?

Its a little pricey, but it has me curious....

They work. I don't have one personally, but the service truck at the radio shop for the County I live in has one. I work with them quite a bit.
No complaints, they work. basic 1/4 wave on VHF. No gain, but sometimes a 1/4 wave will work just fine.
They have some gain on UHF and 800, work fine there too.

It's an expensive antenna, and if you are just scanning you be better off sticking with what you already have. If you are transmitting, then maybe. Actually, the one you have is rated for transmitting, but not quite the bandwidth this model has.

The thing about this antenna is the base is very big. Much bigger than most NMO antennas. Not always a good idea on top of a van or truck.

It works well, even for a rx antenna. I have one up about 50ft and use it primarily for public safety listening. For the particular location that it's installed, I ocasionally use it for tx. I use to have a discone but it kept getting a beating from the wind gusts. I would only buy another one for the tx capability. Considering the price, I wouldn't buy it for rx only.

Yeah, I would only be using it as a rx antenna. May have to stay away if its not worth the price for that configuration.

Thanks for the input guys.
