Thought i would throw a question out to everyone: I know that January 2012 is the proposed online date for the new county public safety system, but i was curious to hear if anyone knows what type of system/voice they will use. I know it will obviously be digital voice...but does anyone know if it will be a P25 phase 1 FDMA, or phase 2 TDMA/FDMA, etc. Any info would be appreciated,

Thanks

Both. The newer systems are "smart" and can recognize when a Phase I radio is using a talkgroup, and broadcast FDMA accordingly. If all the radios affiliated to a talkgroup are Phase II, the TG will be broadcast in TDMA.

However, since there are thousands of new or nearly new FDMA-only radios out there, you probably won't hear too much TDMA for a few years.
