LAPD mobiles?

Does LAPD use mobile radios, or just the portables? Thanks.

the black and whites have mobiles installed motorola xtl5000 radios.

The patrol vehicles that were recently updated have the xtl 5000 built in where the stock car radio would go, those cars are the ones with the new led fed signal lightbar. The older model vehicles still have the converter that you put in the regular astro radio and it amplifies the sound to an external speaker and a handheld mic those car are the ones with the older halogen code 3 lightbar
