From what I've heard they are removing ADP as the free option and replacing it with single key AES. ADP will still be available for purchase (maybe free if requested?), as will multi key AES (which I'd imagine will be fairly more expensive compared to ADP).

So for someone who only needs fairly simple single key encryption then AES is clearly the better choice. Harris did this last year as well.. they had been giving away single key DES and changed it to AES.

Some of the new TGs are using ADP:
TG 22824 Flint City Jail- Mostly clear voice, but some ADP
TG 22804 Unknown usage, but radio IDs are Genesee Co. Full time ADP.

It looks like sometime in the future Lapeer Co will be using ADP because they are not getting new radios and will use existing ones which have the included software encryption. From what I read, Genesee did get new radios and some ADP is starting to appear a little.

Thankfully, the deployment of any encrypted radios in Genesee Co has been turtle pace. There must be problems. For now, most everything is in the clear. Enjoy while it lasts I suppose.
