My just aquired Pro-96 reports the following:

Version
CPU: F1.1
DSP-App:F1.1
DSP-Voc:F1.0

From the manual and previous posts, all I recall hearing about is version 1.0 across the board. Anybody know the difference for the CPU/DSP-App 1.1 version?

This unit has date code 08A03 and serial C0100xx.

Thanks,
RF

PS--The backlight/keypad and audio are great!

That's exactly the same as my (nearly two-month-old) unit.

CPU: F1.1
DSP-App:F1.1
DSP-Voc:F1.0

Date Code: 08A03
S/N: C0148xx

This unit has date code 08A03 <snip>

The latest is:

CPU: F1.3
DSP-App:F1.2
DSP-Voc:F1.0

Your unit is one of the original batch from August, 2003. All the versions are the original releases.

As for the differences, here is what I've posted to the email list several times (nobody seems to search the archives).

BTW, YOU CAN upgrade your DSP firmware with the cable and a PC. You will gain CQPSK capabilities. That's the only difference with DSP-App V1.2.

For the CPU:
V1.1 is the original version.
V1.2 fixes the TG lockout (above CH 4-08 ) bug.
V1.3 fixes the 48xxx TG reception problem.
(47872, 47888, 47904, 47920, 47936, 47952, 47968, 47984,
48000, 48016, 48032, 48048, 48064, 48080, 48096, 48112)

Note that the 48xxx TG problem only affects ANALOG TGs, not digital.

That said, there seems to be a number of systems potentially affected.
There is a list here:

You MUST send your unit to Ft. Worth, TX (actually, your local Radio Shack store must send it there) to have the CPU upgrade done. It cannot be done in the field or by the user/owner.

Whether it is necessary to upgrade depends on whether you want to listen
to any of the affected TGs. Bug #1 is easily worked around (fill up TG
bank 4 first). If there are no TGs you want to listen to, odds are there
never will be. I decided it was better off for me to not lose my scanner
for 6 weeks for an upgrade I really didn't need - even though I do
travel to an area with an affected system. There aren't any TGs I can
live without as much as losing my 96 for 6 weeks (That's how long it was
running when I was still under warranty). It may be down to 2 weeks now
if you are really lucky, but I still prefer to not lose 2 weeks worth of
use over an upgrade I may never use.

The upgrade is free as long as your unit is under warranty, and is $45
if it is not still under warranty. If you have to have the upgrade, but
can wait, you may be better off waiting until the end of your 1-year
warranty period just in case they come out with V1.4.

Personally, I would return the unit and get one with the latest software in it.

Does the date code on your BOX match the date code on the UNIT? If not, someone likely bought the one originally in that box, and returned their older unit with the older firmware. That's happened to a few people.

Good information

I woke up an old thread

Check the date of this thread. I found the thread by searching and thought it would be good info to add for those that needed to know :)
