Talkgroup 21 is Albany Fire Department dispatch (clear, Phase I type talkgroup; received on my Unication G5 pager - which does receive Phase one, not Phase two talkgroups).

In other breaking news, Crisp County has switched to a P25 Phase I (one) TRS and, like the Albany system, the control channel changed...

System ID 940 (nine-four-zero)
WACN BEE00
RFSS 001
Site ID 002

cc 856.7875, ac 857.3375, ac 855.4625, ac 854.9625

Talkgroup 101 is Sheriff Dispatch
Talkgroup 401 is EMS Dispatch
Talkgroup 133 is encrypted

Upon review of recorded talkgroup traffic on the Albany system:

The following talkgroups were encrypted at the time of the recording...

13, 34, 39, 41, 50, 63, 99, 105, 106, 118, 511, 514, 519, 527, 529, 540 & 1724

The only unencrypted talkgroups were 21 (Albany Fire), 1713 & 1714 (??Lee County FD/EMS??)

Jay,

I was able to hear those garbled talkgroups with my Pro-106 so I'm not real sure if they have indeed gone to the Phase II system but I did hear the same 21, 1713 and 1714 but no other clear channels. Talkgroup 21 is Albany FD Dispatch and 1713 and 1714 are Lee County but I think they have combined to use one channel for most of the routine transmissions as I hear them mostly on 1713. I do not hear them talking to the hospital for patient reports but with wildcard setup it is hard to catch the clear with the garbled coming in all the time.

Just because the system is capable of Phase II does not mean that the user/subscriber equipment is actually Phase II, or that that capability is turned on (or installed) yet.

It's tough listening to the (ADP) encrypted garbage to discover any monitorable talkgroups, but my Unication pager decodes only FDMA (Phase I) talkgroups. I have Phase II capable scanners but didn't find any active Phase II talkgroups that one afternoon of monitoring.

Time will tell as to what is Phase II in Albany and Leesburg.

Happy hunting,

My friends, I heard from Sheriff Rachals a week or so ago and he has verified that they have transferred to the P25 system and they have encrypted the sheriffs/police bands. I'm guessing that they have not or probably will not encrypt the Fire/EMS bands but they could at any time. No reason for me to upgrade to a new scanner now.

Thanks Bill, I've have since headed in another direction. Returned the Bearcat and for less 50.00 picked up a pair of rtl-sdr dongles. Setup up UniTrunker and DSDPlus and also SDRSharp. Been having a blast with this.
