Lic Free Freq in Mexico

In September I will be sending down some radio gear to my family in Mexico to use around the ranch and around the small town. Will be a few hand helds a base, maybe 2 bases, and possibly a repeater or in the future.

Ive looked on the net and havent found anything regarding license and need to know what frequencies they can use. VHF or UHF etc. with out getting into trouble.

I know Rat Shack sells the Frs/gmrs radios down in Raidio Shack Mexico

There was [unk if still made] and FRS/GMRS Radio that was Type Accepted for the USA , Canada and Mexico [portables only]

I would say best bet is to purchase from a Radio Shack in Mexico that way you can have some deniability for being sold the wrong radios in Mexico, vs purchasing from here in the USA

no creo que tengas algun problema siempre y cuando cumplas con los standares de potencia en transmision (sin amplificadores) yo tengo una base en mexico d. f. con un repetidor kenwood y no tengo problema alguno tambien tengo una base similar en veracruz y la cual ha sido revisada por la sedena y ningun problema no tengo alteraciones en el equipo espero te sirva saludos..........

I know FRS is ok in Mexico but looking to use some radios that are more rugged. Like some Motorola HT1000's or Sabers.


ricardoneza, qual frequncia cres que es mejor? Es para un rancho en Zacatecas. Que son los standares de potencia en transmision

Los radios portales 4 a 5 watts y la base 25 watts.
