I was told that there are lithium batteries in AA size. Is it ok to use this type of battery in the Uniden 436?
nO I wouldn't charge them just see how long they would last is what I am curious about.I would not try charging them whatsoever, but they should power the scanner.

I use (non-rechargable) lithium Energizers in my weather station since it's outside in all sorts of weather and because it's mounted on the roof of a shed so it's not as accessible. I don't use them in other devices since rechargables work well for me.

You'll get a noticable use extension but, they tend to `run out' a bit more suddenly when they finally run down. I've also found that they also tend to be better at handling temperature `extremes' better than Alkalines and the less robust NiCd and NiMh rechargeables. I have yet to find any LiOn rechargeables for any scanners that I would trust in my HH scanners. Though I suspect that if I could come up with a quality `12V' `battery pack' made with them I wouldn't have any problems using it as a `backup', or a way to `portable' a `Base/Mobile' scanner?
