Locomotive vs tornado

Yes and no.

A North American freight railroad locomotive can weigh over 400,000 pounds. However, that weight is sitting on wheels that are 56.5 inches apart. IOW, they can be a little tippy. The real problem is the railroad cars that the locomotive is pulling. They are more easily derailed and could cause the locomotive to derail. I would definitely not want to be in a commuter rail car in a tornado.

Yeah I was definitely referring to the locomotive LOL, it might tip over but won't travel very far LOL.

That settles it. I'm scrapping the storm cellar idea and getting a locomotive for my back yard. :)
I'd stick with the storm shelter. Easier to get a building permit. Besides, you can set up your radios down there and operate from your "underground bunker".

They are actually available in the Philly area, very reasonable, it's the shipping charge that's the problem.
