I'm new to scanning as I just obtained my BC95XLT last month. Now, I'm kinda wondering how many months/years I can expect this unit to last assuming... (1) it was properly assembled from the manufacturer and (2) useage being an average of a couple of hours per day? Tkx.

Tom

P.S. If I have asked this in the wrong forum...my apologies.

For most equipment, it's the period of the warranty, plus one day. ;-)

I own my first scanner since Dec 05. Works like new. I wouldn't worry about a scanner just dying on you one day, if you use it normally of course.:D

In my experience, the more you dislike an electronic piece of equipment, the longer it will last before requiring replacement. For a scanner like what you have, no offence but you will probably see around 15 years.

Thanks for that info 'cws'...something like the tailight warranty after a car repair <lol>.

So, it would appear this little scanner should last a few years anyway. In that case, after I get somewhat proficient enuf to move up to a "man size" scanner (a.k.a. digital, or whatever the flavour-of-the-day is) I will still be able to use this little guy to carry around with me, sounds good. Tkx all!

I kind of wondered the same thing. I have the 396T and I thought how long will it last for the money I spent on it. But of course, if I keep charging the batteries in it, apparently not too long. I guess I should break down and by a battery charger.
