I got some information suggesting that Longview and East Texas Medical Center may be merging into the Harris County Regional Radio System, possibly as part of a P25 digital upgrade. I see there is a note on the Longview system about a pending digital upgrade. Does anyone in those areas have any information on these systems being upgraded? You may want to keep an ear on the 700/800 MHz bands in case any new control channels show up in the future or the existing channels change over.
Eric,
There was a new article link some time back about Longview joining the ETMC system, and preparing to go digital at some point of the process.
ETMC's website has a
document with a schedule for conversion of the system. Not sure if that schedule is still on track, but it shows converting various parts of their system, in stages. The one that would matter the most to me would be Site 009, Waxahachie, within range for me on several scanners. Waxahachie PD & FD, as well as city services, are on the system. So far, no changes noted on that site, but the schedule published indicates 2009/2010 for this area. When Waxahachie purchased their radios, the article in the local paper (in Waxahachie) quoted a city official as stating that they specified digital capable radios with an eye to future conversion.
The schedule in the document indicates Gregg County/Longview as set for 2010/2011.
