Bruce Haffner has partnered with the Fort McDowell Resort & Casino to bring his unique reporting style back to the airwaves in the Valley of the Sun on 3TV. Bruce has been missed reporting from the air, and now will be returning to the skies over Arizona once again.
Bruce will be reporting from the Electronic News Gathering (ENG) position of a brand new Robinson R-44 Newscopter helicopter. The R-44 Newscopter is capable of transmitting, receiving, and recording live audio and video in High Definition. Bruce will be reporting and manning the HD Camera onboard while another pilot flies the helicopter. This frees the pilot from the responsibility of the distraction of reporting and allows him to concentrate on flying duties including keeping track of the numerous other news helicopters that are often over the same scene.
I have known Bruce Haffner for many years, and I know he will miss the status of Pilot/Reporter. I also know that Bruce is honoring the memory of the four that were lost in the tragic crash of July 27th, 2007 by adapting to a safer way of helicopter news gathering.
